Around....for now?
Water Count: 4
I'm starting a daily water count, because it's good for you. The number denotes the number of bottles I've had to date. Goal is 6-8 per day. Wish me and my bladder luck =)
I just got back last night at 9 PM from Berkeley. It was super fun and I'm go glad I was there to watch my friend graduate. The ceremony was really nice, I got a pretty good tan all things considered, and I'm borrowing her papasan chair for the next month and a half (yay!).
Right now my major personal concern is what to do w/ my weekend. The camp that I'm working at this summer has a staff retreat this weekend. My parents have offered to fly me home for it so I can attend, but I'm not sure whether I want to spend another weekend out of town. I feel like all I've been doing lately is traveling or hosting guests. Plus, there are some people at Stanford I want to hang out with before the year ends and most of them graduate.
So, in a nutshell, I'm not sure what to do.
Haven't catched DH & B&S yet, so I'll post my thoughts when I do. Meanwhile, if you watch DWTS, vote! Especially for Apolo & Julianne, b/c I love them.
Happy Monday!

Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer...
by friends, I mean The Graduate, and my enemies I mean Kal. ;-)
Right now I'm in Berkeley, home of the golden bears, for graduation #1. This one is for my best friend, who is Pi Beta Kappa and is graduating with an honors degree in English. Tonight her parents are taking her and her friends to a fancy dinner, and tomorrow is her graduation.
Stay tuned for pictures!
Earlier today I was running errands in Menlo Park, First I got a pedicure, then my hair cut, THEN I went to Stanford for the Pac-10 Track Championships. My lil sis, Melis, threw Shot Put. It was super fun to watch her throw, and the weather was beautiful :-)
Anyway, off to the party! ~C

Both are based on an upcoming interview featured in Reader's Digest, which will be available May 22.
In personal news, tomorrow I'm going to see my friend throw shotput in the Pac-10 Championships (http://gostanford.cstv.com/sports/c-track/spec-rel/051007aac.html), and then driving to Berkeley for graduation festivities.
Happy weekend (3 in a row =) ! ~C

I put my pain management knowledge to good use today...
So my boss (well, one of the partners in the group) broke up a dog fight and in the process, broke a finger one one hand and messed up the other hand pretty bad =) .
Of course, they gave her Vicodin for the pain (which, honestly, doesn't work for many people) so I told her that my doctor said I could take advil at the same time as the Vicodin. For me, that worked like a charm, and also helps with the swelling (and Vicodin does nothing for swelling btw). Anyway, I hope for her sake that helps, it really sucks to have that kind of pain when you don't have use of your hands and feel obligated to be at work.
In other news, I watched "Stick It" last night. It's a gymnastics movie which was actually pretty entertaining. I wish there was more gymnastics in it but I understand that finding that many good gymnasts to be stunt doubles is probably hard. Plus the lead actress in the movie seemed WAY TOO TALL to be an elite gymnast, but that's just my opinion. Anyway, if you like Gym, rent it, it's fun. Missy Elliot also does this really good song for the soundtrack, called "We run this - Stick It edit"
That's it for now. 2 posts in a row - pretty good! ~C

Some websites I like...
It occurred to me while writing my last post that there are some websites I should share.
www.televisionwithoutpity.com - Recaps and message boards for all of the hot shows (and by all, I mean all...even The Search for the Next Doll had a message board) The message boards in particular are a good source for spoilers ( I knew the correct order of elimination for The Amazing Race All Stars at the beginning of the season)
www.greyswriters.com - This is the Writers Blog for Grey's Anatomy. They always do a post a day after any new episode. They're an interesting read and sometimes a good source of information.
www.spoilerfix.com - This is my TV spoilers site. For those of you who like to read spoilers (like me) this is a good place to go. They cover Greys', Desperate Housewives, Veronica Mars, Heroes, Brothers & Sisters, Lost, Prison Break, Smallville, Ugly Betty, etc. You would be suprised by how much can be spoiled
www.trent.blogspot.com (aka www.Pinkisthenewblog.com) - This is the celebrity and pop culture site that I visit daily. Trent is awesome and has the funniest commentary on celeb gossip.

Yes, I know, I'm a bad blogger....
I'm having trouble remembering that I have this blog, plus I'm a boring person so I don't know what to write...
2 Topics today: Gilmore Girls & Dancing w/ the Stars
Gilmore Girls made me cry. Especially when Rory was getting her diploma. It was emotional partly because the series is almost over and partly because my memories of this time in Rory's life are so fresh, plus all of my friends are about to graduate so that doesn't help...
Anyway, I was happy that Rory said no to Logan's proposal but was disappointed in the way he took it. A hug would've been nice!
I also LOVED Richard and Emily's song and the way Emily was fixated on Logan's proposal and Richard wanted Lorelai to relax and taken in Rory's grad.
One episode left, I'm sure that one will make me cry even more. (I cried during the last episode of Boy Meets World, so I'm sure there will be waterworks next Tuesday)
I don't tend to watch the DWTS results show, mostly because it's boring and the musical guests are lame. However I did read the recap on www.televisionwithoutpity.com which is a wonderful website for TV junkies like me. I was quite surprised that Joey was in the Bottom 2 w/ Billy Ray Cyrus, but since everyone knew who was going home no matter what it didn't really matter.
As long as Apollo and Julianne are in the finals, I'm a happy camper. Vote for the a www.abc.com.
(On a side note, I'm so excited for National Bingo Night on ABC starting May 18. Starting this Friday you can print out bingo cards for it and you can play as many as you want from home!)

Mitt Romney for President?
There are some generalizations I think I can make about Orange County Mormons. I don't know about anywhere else, nor especially Utah, at least not firsthand (my friends tell me stories). With that said, I know Romney grew up in Michigan, so he didn't have the Utah Mormon experience either. However, there are some commonalities between him and many Mormons I know:
1. He went to BYU undergrad (he actually was at Stanford first, but transferred after his mission...which brings me to:
2. He went on a mission (to France)
3. He got married soon after returning from his mission
4. He is an active member of the LDS church, and he has said that he doesn't drink, smoke, or drink coffee or tea
Here are some differences between him and many Mormons:
1. He didn't start at BYU, he went to Stanford first, and then transferred, probably so he could be near his girlfriend. (sigh...if he were a Stanford alum, I probably would consider voting Republican this time around, we need someone other than Herbert Hoover...lol)
2. His wife was not raised Mormon, she converted after they had started dating
3. He didn't grow up in Utah.
So I've been asking myself whether I would be ok with having a President who is Mormon, but after looking at this, I've realized that it isn't the question I should be asking. I should be asking,
"Am I ok with the fact that Mitt Romney is Mormon, and would I vote for him knowing that fact."
A few caviats:
1. It is unlikely that I will vote for a Republican in the 2008 general election.
2. I genuinely believe that religion is different from race or gender, because of the behaviors that go along with faith. I think President Bush has frequently made decisions with the help of his faith during his Presidency, and I'd expect any person of faith to do the same in that position. Gender and Race also come with behavioral generalizations, but I think they are easier to see with a specific religion such as LDS than they are for genetic traits.
Anyway, I will continue thinking about this, these are just preliminary thoughts, and would appreciate any comments/opinions/etc.
So much for the post below....
Tonight's the national championship game, pitting Florida vs. Ohio State. Apparently most people think Florida was unstoppable in this tourney and that tonight will be no exception, so we'll see. I picked Ohio State to beat UCLA in the final game, so I guess I'm rooting for the Buckeyes, but I'm not as hopeful as I would have been, had UCLA been able to pull off an upset.
At least Arron Afflalo was a good sport about the loss this time...

Yeah I know, it's been awhile, so sue me.
Exciting news from Sunday.....
We're IN!
11th Seeded Stanford Cardinal plays 6th Seed Louisville Cardinals in the First Round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament
Thursday, 9:40 AM PST CBS
(Which means I'll be going into work late that day)
Unfortunately, it's practically a home game for Louisville so we're at a major disadvantage. However Stanford is the only team that beat UVA at home so if anyone can pull it off, this team can. GOOD LUCK GUYS!!!
Other than rooting for my team, I'm working on filling out my brackets for the various pools I'll be entering (Facebook, si.com, espn.com, etc.) I'm nervous about those 8-9 games, but with 6 Pac-10 teams in the tourney, I think I've got a handle on a lot of the bracket. But if you have any good advice or information on teams/matchups, please let me know!
Tonight will be a late night at work, partly because I got here late and mostly because there are some major deadlines this week.
